When Pitt Busted Records Appear
Pitt County's detainee application does not stamp a posting time on new entries. A fresh booking can sit unpublished for a while. Someone released or transferred can also drop out of the current view without warning. Read what you see as a dated snapshot rather than a complete same-day list.
Found a gap? Call inmate information, ask PCSO about the specific record, and check the Daily Reflector page. The court file will show what happened later. An empty online entry does not mean no booking ever took place.
Pitt County Busted Mugshots
A booking record starts simply. An agency brings an arrested person to the detention center for intake. The Pitt County Detention Center is run by the Sheriff's Office. From there, the county's arrest picture draws on several agencies. Greenville Police, Winterville Police, Ayden Police, ECU Police, the Sheriff, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol all contribute. The arresting agency may hold onto its incident report. The detention center, though, creates or receives the custody record once the person is booked there.
A booking photo is an identification image made for a law-enforcement record. The charge listed at intake may later be changed, dismissed, resolved by plea, or decided at trial. The court record supplies the final disposition. Not the image, and not a jail listing. People booked and released can vanish from the live roster. The agency record stays available through the proper records channel.
Pitt County busted mugshots come from bookings, warrants, and wanted listings maintained by area law enforcement. Each entry marks a point where someone was taken into custody or flagged for arrest somewhere in the county. Want to look someone up? The listings below show who was booked and why.
The detention center's own description draws a useful line. It cares for, controls, and holds county inmates. It does not set or change bond, alter court dates, render a verdict, or decide punishment. That division is why the roster works well for current custody and booking details yet cannot tell you what happened in court.
What Pitt Booking Records Show
The official detainee application is the best source for the fields it shows. Pitt's public detention page publishes no field dictionary. So copy each result carefully. Verify it against the court or records office. A photo may appear in an official result. The Sheriff has not posted a blanket rule, though, saying every booking photo is online, kept for a set time, or refreshed on a fixed schedule.
| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Name | The name entered for the detainee or booking. A name match alone does not prove identity. |
| Booking number | A facility identifier that helps PCSO locate the right transaction. |
| Booking date and time | When intake was entered, not necessarily when the alleged conduct occurred. |
| Arresting agency | The department that made or submitted the arrest, such as PCSO or a city police agency. |
| Charges as booked | The intake charges. They are not a disposition and can change in court. |
| Statute or offense code | The legal code or description supplied with a charge, subject to court verification. |
| Bond and type | The amount and release condition, if set. Pitt describes cash, property, and surety bonds. |
| Photo or release status | A photo, bond-out, transfer, or release field only if the source provides it. |
| Court date or case number | A bridge to the court layer, which should be checked in NC eCourts or with the Clerk. |
| Facility and disposition | Where custody sits now, and what happened later. Disposition belongs to the court record. |
Third-party entries sometimes add age, date of birth, height, weight, race, sex, or a copied image. Those details can help you locate a record. They do not make an unofficial page official. When fields conflict, preserve the source URL. Ask PCSO or the Clerk to clarify.
Request a Pitt Booking Record
When a person is no longer on the current roster, or the public result lacks a needed photo, go through the Pitt County Sheriff's Office records route. The PCSO Contact page directs public-record requests to Victoria McRoy at victoria.mcroy@pittcountync.gov. No special online mugshot form exists. There is no fixed photo fee either. Ask for the estimate before production.
- Write to the public-records contact and state that the request seeks the booking record and, if releasable, the booking photograph.
- Give the full name, approximate booking date, arresting agency, booking or case number if known, and the facility.
- Ask for the booking date, charges as booked, bond, release or transfer status, and any record identifier needed for verification.
- Request the image as a separate item if the live roster does not show one, and ask for the legal basis if an item is withheld or redacted.
- Ask for any copy or search charge and a processing estimate before the record is produced. Pitt’s Manual of Fees has a general public-record framework, not a special published booking-photo price.

North Carolina public-records law calls for prompt access where the record is public. The county materials do not promise a fixed turnaround for a booking photo, though. Review, format, lawful withholding, and request scope can all affect timing. The numbers serve different needs. Use 252-902-2868 for a current inmate-information question, 252-902-2913 after hours or on holidays, and 911 for an emergency.
North Carolina Mugshot Record Law
N.C.G.S. § 132-1 defines public records broadly, covering photographs and electronic material made or received in public business. That breadth supports a records request. It does not force every image onto a web roster. N.C.G.S. § 132-1.4 treats criminal-investigation records as generally confidential while identifying public arrest and alleged-violation information. Any particular image can depend on the record, the request, and a lawful exception.
N.C.G.S. § 15A-502 authorizes photographs and fingerprints for law-enforcement records after a felony or misdemeanor arrest or commitment, within statutory limits. That statute explains why a booking image may exist. It still does not guarantee public online display. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, victim, and investigative records require separate care.
No enacted North Carolina law creates a general public booking-photo ban or a universal free-removal mandate. Proposed bills are not current law.
Expunction is the legal route when a case qualifies for erasure. A North Carolina order can seal and destroy qualifying state records. Waiting periods and eligibility rules depend on the situation. The court sets a general filing fee of $175, with exceptions, and the whole process often runs several months. Begin with North Carolina expunction information and the official forms. Note: a dismissal or a release never wipes anything on its own.
Private copies live on other servers. Each publisher runs its own free documented process once an order is in hand. BustedNewspaper wants a source URL plus qualifying legal papers. It says validation may take 5 to 10 days. Mugshots.com describes free record maintenance, including disposition updates, with up to 10 business days to process. Mugshots Zone asks for the URL, a reason, a callback number, and supporting proof. It quotes the same 5 to 10 day window. None of this obligates a publisher to take down every released record. Skip paid intermediaries too. A free publisher or court process handles what they charge for. When the source page finally changes, Google's outdated-content tool can clear stale indexing, though it cannot touch a live source.
How to Find Pitt Arrest Records
Start with custody status. Someone booked recently or still held shows up first at the county level. A released person may need a records request or a newspaper archive instead. State custody points to NCDAC. Federal or immigration detention calls for a federal locator.
- Open the official Pitt current-detainee search and use only the search controls the live application presents.
- Compare the result’s name, facility, booking date, agency, charge, bond, and status. Save the booking number if shown.
- Check The Daily Reflector Jail Bookings, which PCSO links as a separate recent-bookings resource.
- If the person is absent, ask PCSO for the specific booking record or photo, then check the municipal police records path when a city agency made the arrest.
- Use NC eCourts and the Pitt Clerk for the case timeline and disposition.
- Use NCDAC, BOP, or ICE only when the question concerns state, federal, or immigration custody.
The live detainee app is not a full county arrest archive. Names go missing for many reasons. Release, transfer, or a delayed entry can all hide someone. So can a different spelling or a booking at another facility. Some entries face restrictions. A missing name proves nothing either way.
Where Pitt Mugshots Appear
Check official sources first. Secondary pages can surface an older date or spelling, yet they are copied publisher records, not proof anyone is currently in custody. Source relationships matter here. The Sheriff links its own detention explanation to The Daily Reflector's booking page; the other sites stand on their own.
| Channel | Photo? | Official? | Access and limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| PCSO current detainee search | Verify live result | Yes | Current county custody; no published photo or cadence rule. |
| Daily Reflector Jail Bookings | Verify live page | No, Sheriff-linked | Recent newspaper feed; exact window and archive depth are not documented. |
| PCSO records request | If releasable | Yes | Fallback for released records or a photo not displayed online. |
| NCDAC offender search | Eligible profiles may | Yes, state | State prison, probation, and parole, not a county booking archive. |
| County court records | Not a mugshot source | Yes, court | Case events and disposition through eCourts, Clerk, and file copies. |
| BustedNewspaper, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, Mugshots Zone | Often copied | No | Unofficial recent or historical copies; check PCSO and court records. |
| RecentlyBooked | General site says when available | No | No verified Pitt County page was located. Do not use another county’s page. |
Never treat a rehosted image as the official local photo. Third-party pages can keep a record long after a bond-out or transfer. The charge label may be stale too. Treat the four verified aggregator pages as leads only. Corrections take three steps: save the URL, request the agency record, and use the publisher's no-fee process when its rules fit.
One contextual link goes to the Sheriff-linked newspaper resource. It is a feed view, not a gallery. It is not a custody confirmation either. View The Daily Reflector's Jail Bookings page to see the newspaper's current presentation.

Expect the visible date range and fields to shift over time. For current custody, use PCSO. For what happened after booking, use the court.
Pitt County’s Current Jail Roster
Pitt's official app is a current-detainee search. Plain and simple. It is not a full arrest log. The explanatory detention page stays quiet on key details: the live search fields, the posting interval, any photo rule, and removal timing after release. That missing policy matters. Say a result shows a photo only when the live result actually shows one. Request an image from PCSO with an "if releasable" qualifier.
| Search or result item | Safe use |
|---|---|
| Name or supported field | Enter the value the current application accepts, then compare more than the name. |
| Detail record | Copy booking date, agency, charge, bond, facility, status, and identifier if present. |
| Photo | Use only if the official result displays one or PCSO releases it. |
| Roster absence | Consider release, transfer, delay, spelling, no booking, or legal restriction. |
- Open the county-hosted detainee application.
- Search using the supported control and inspect the matching detail.
- Record the custody facts without treating charges as guilt.
- Call 252-902-2868 for a current facility question, or 252-902-2913 after hours or on holidays if the online tool is unavailable.
- Move to PCSO records or the Clerk for a released person and later case result.
No public jail-information app exists for Pitt. P3Tips handles anonymous Crime Stoppers tips. HomeWAV covers visitation and inmate communication. Neither serves as a roster or a booking-photo feed. Open the official detainee search before trusting any copied result.

The county portal covers current custody and nothing more. It does not replace a records request, a court file, or state and federal locator systems.
Recent Pitt Bookings and Feed Windows
No fixed 24-hour or 48-hour booking window is documented anywhere official. Call the application a current roster. Do not call it a guaranteed same-day feed. PCSO also links The Daily Reflector Jail Bookings, a newspaper-facing page for recent arrests. Its oldest and newest visible dates are unverified. So are its photo handling, pagination, and archive controls. Avoid labels like "72-hour" or "weekly" without checking the page fresh.
A quiet weekend or overnight gap means nothing. Data entry lags, releases, transfers, page limits, and the publisher's chosen window all shape what appears on screen.
Third-party archives show why custody state needs plain wording. BustedNewspaper splits Pitt into date-segmented pages. Mugshots Zone exposes month archives. They run from December 2020 through July 2026. Mugshots.com holds older county and city indexes. Arrests.org shows recent-looking county listings. Each is a publisher's window, not the Sheriff's retention schedule. None confirms a person is still jailed.
For older records, ask PCSO one thing first: does the booking item sit in the office or an approved storage system? Request the booking identifier. Then ask the Clerk for the linked court file. A State Archives schedule governs sheriff record series and approved destruction. No Pitt-specific transfer of mugshot files was ever verified. A record vanishing from the web does not mean it was destroyed.
NCDAC Offender Photos
State custody works differently from the county jail. When someone may be serving a prison term or living under state probation or parole, the place to look is the NCDAC Criminal Offender Searches page or its public locator. The agency says its records reach back to 1972. Keep in mind that state files do not mirror the Pitt County Detention Center roster.
The search accepts a name or an offender ID. NCDAC tips describe a seven-digit offender number, docket numbers up to ten digits, exact SID lookups, transport numbers that start with T plus six digits, and several driver-license formats. Those fields help separate people who share a name. Still, confirm the identity before accepting a match.
Photos follow their own rules. The old NCDPS policy made active offender and absconder pictures available through search, while other images required an approval process. Check the current interface before assuming a photo exists. For a special record, submit the NCDAC public-records request form and ask about fees and timing. A state offender profile is a different thing from a Pitt booking photo.
Booked or Released: Record Location
Custody status moves fast. Faster than the case itself. Bond instructions cover cash, property, and surety options. Yet the detention center does not set or change bond amounts. Someone can bond out and vanish from the live roster. The court file stays open anyway. Where to look depends on where the person stands right now.
| State | Best first source | What it can show |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked or in county custody | PCSO current detainee search | Current custody and whatever booking fields the live result provides. |
| Released, bonded, or transferred | PCSO records request, Daily Reflector, then court | Booking copy, possible photo, release clue, and later case trail. |
| State prison or supervision | NCDAC offender search | State corrections status and eligible public profile fields. |
| Federal custody | BOP locator | Federal inmate location for records from 1982 forward, not a county photo feed. |
| Immigration custody | ICE locator | Current or recent ICE custody with its exact identity requirements. |
| Case result | NC eCourts, Clerk, or court file | Hearings, judgments, dismissals, pleas, and other disposition events. |
After a Pitt County Booking
Booking ends, and the courts step in. Pitt County belongs to Judicial District 3. Its courts page links to NC eCourts, where the Portal offers Smart Search plus hearing and judgment searches. Type the legal name, then narrow the results by location, date, case type, and status. A booking identifier, when one appears, can be checked against the match.
Some terms are worth knowing. An arraignment is the appearance where the charge is addressed. Bond is the financial or conditional release setting. Disposition means how the case ends, such as a dismissal, plea, or judgment. Expunction is a court process that can seal and destroy eligible records.
News stories, a roster entry, a booking photo, and a charge all describe custody events, not outcomes. For the disposition, follow NC eCourts or the Clerk.
The Portal is an information tool, not the official court record. Need a file or a certified copy? Go through the Clerk's office and the court-file process. The courthouse sits at 100 W. Third Street, Greenville, NC 27834, with a clerk window generally open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The main number is 252-695-7100. Call the court before making the trip to confirm current details.
Pitt Custody Alerts and Federal Checks
NC SAVAN is a custody-notification system, not a mugshot feed. The FAQ explains registration and lists a hotline at 1-877-627-2826. Alerts can cover eligible county-jail, state-prison, or supervision events when the system holds a supported record. No alert is guaranteed for every arrest, bond-out, or court change. Trust the event definitions instead of reading a notification as a full case history.
Federal custody works on separate systems. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal records from 1982 forward and searches by name or register number. There is no county-style booking-photo search. Someone held locally for federal proceedings may not appear until transfer or designation. For immigration holds, the ICE Online Detainee Locator needs an exact A-number with country of birth, or an exact name plus country and date of birth. Neither tool answers a routine Pitt jail question.
Pitt Busted Mugshots by City
City pages split local police records from the shared county custody layer. Greenville holds the county seat and ranks as the largest incorporated place, counting 87,521 residents in the April 1, 2020 Census. Winterville reported 10,462, and Ayden 4,977 on that date. Population sets the page order, not arrest volume. A city arrest can involve a municipal department, PCSO, ECU Police, or another agency.
- Greenville Busted Mugshots, GPD’s reports path plus the PCSO roster when a person is held at the county detention center.
- Winterville Busted Mugshots, town police reports and crime mapping, with county custody checked through PCSO.
- Ayden Busted Mugshots, dated police call logs and a records-release route, followed by PCSO and court verification.
All three cities point routine county custody questions back to the Pitt County Detention Center when the person is held there. A city police page may explain an incident or provide a report, but it is not automatically a booking-photo roster. The countywide roster reaches further. It can include arrests made outside any incorporated place.
Pitt Booking Terms in Plain Words
These terms get tangled easily once a person moves from arrest to release and then into court.
- Booking
- The jail intake process that records identity, charges as received, custody, and related fields.
- Warrant
- Legal process authorizing an arrest or requiring an appearance. It is not a conviction.
- Bond
- A financial or conditional release setting. Pitt’s detention staff does not set or change it.
- Disposition
- The court’s later result, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or judgment.
- Detainer
- A request or notice tied to another authority’s custody interest. It is not proof of the underlying charge.
- Expunction
- A court process that can seal and destroy eligible records under the applicable law.
